Form 5 Linguists visit Paris

Senior School After School/EECA

“A walk about Paris will provide lessons in history, beauty, and in the point of life.”

On the 7th March, 10 intrepid Form 5 linguists travelled to the city of lights to explore and to try to make sense of it. After breakfast on the Eurostar and with metro tickets in hand, we made straight for the Oberkampf area to seek out street art and to get a feel for one of the city's less-visited areas.

This done, we decided to explore Montmartre and took the funicular up the hill to the Sacré Coeur, stopping to talk about the history of the area and narrowly avoiding a group caricature at the summit! By now we were experts at using the Metro, and we made for Trocadéro and took some beautiful shots of the Eiffel Tower. After a brief stroll across the river, the next stop was Notre Dame and a typical Parisian lunch in a bistro and a chance to practise some French. Batteries (and phones) recharged, we had time to inspect the famous cathedral and take a tour of the inside.

Having discussed some of the city’s highlights, its art, history and culture, we arrived back in London tired but pleased with what we had achieved in a day. Well done to the Form 5 boys involved!
