Celebrating Feast of St Claudine Thevenet

Whole College Events

On Friday 2nd February, St Columba’s College was invited to share in the festivities at Thornton College for the Feast of St Claudine Thevenet. The Sisters of Jesus and Mary extended an invitation to the Brothers of the Sacred Heart to reflect on the work of our cooperating founders Claudine Thevenet and Andre Coindre.

Mr Buxton, Brother Nelson and Ms McCarthy went along to represent the College. The welcome was fantastic from the Senior Leadership team, staff and girls of the College, which included Mr Peter Fahy (Old Columban) and now Head of RE at Thornton College. The celebration comprised of a service day reflecting on the values of St Claudine and Andre Coindre and the mass was concelebrated by Brother Nelson.

The Mass began with a ceremony of light. Three candles were lit representing the two schools and our shared spirituality and partnership. It was a beautiful service and Brother Nelson delivered a poignant Post Communion Reflection based on the ties between the two schools. He said Andre and Claudine would be very happy in Heaven to see the close bonds now established between the two schools.

We ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as we continue to forge links with our partner school, Thornton College.

 St Claudine, pray for us.

Andre Coindre, pray for us.
