There has been a real buzz about the school this week as we have all enjoyed Science Week. It kicked off with the chicks arriving in Prep 1 at 9.30am on Monday morning.
This excitement continued into the afternoon as Prep 6 set up their individual experiments which they shared with the whole school and parents. Over the past six weeks, the boys researched, planned and trialled their ideas. There was a huge variety of experiments ranging from how to create a motor using copper wire and batteries, fruit clocks, volcanoes and how to sound-proof a room. All the judges were really impressed with all of the entries. The overall winners were: Max Butterworth, Tysen Lai and Matthew Bowler.
On Tuesday, Prep 5 spent half a day increasing their knowledge of coding. The slime workshops were a big hit with all ages groups and lots of mess was made!
Another exciting event, took place on Wednesday when all the boys took parts in a tour of the solar system by virtual reality.
All the cars were collected on Thursday and the winners were revealed at the Awards Assembly on Friday. A huge thank you to all the boys who participated and constructed innovative vehicles. We were really impressed with the high standard of all the cars.
During the week, each form was set the challenge of constructing a bridge made of straws. All the boys collaborated enthusiastically and the bridges were tested and then displayed in assembly.
To end the week, Captain Calamity arrived with a bang on Friday. Each year group participated in a mind-blowing Science workshop. It was a fitting end to an exciting week!
