St Columba’s Prep School is proud to be a Catholic school in the tradition of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.
The Brothers’ tradition inspires a strong sense of community, where all boys are valued and encouraged to fulfil their potential in an atmosphere of mutual respect and compassion. Our primary goal is the religious and moral education of our boys, along with the pursuit of academic excellence.
This atmosphere aims to reach out to all families, Old Columbans, the local community and the wider world. St Columba’s Prep School is proud to have a reputation for being a friendly school, where all students are individually known and valued equally, whatever their strengths and weaknesses. Great care is taken by the teaching staff to ensure that all boys develop into confident and compassionate individuals, which will prepare them to play a responsible role in the shaping of society.
Whilst we are a Roman Catholic school, we welcome boys from all faiths or none. It is our wish that, during their time in the Prep School, our boys grow up within a community, where Christian beliefs and principles are a guide for all that we do. This is evident in the liturgical life of our school, which includes prayer and worship, with liturgical celebration of key events in the Church’s year, and in the many ways we have of reaching out beyond our community.
Starting with our very youngest, we hold dear the aim of developing the boys’ spirituality, fostering a sense of ‘awe and wonder’ in God’s world and the belief that God manifests himself through those we meet everyday.
